HDR meet DNA Cluster

dna

Another HDR photo from the DNA building. This one was processed to have some more contrast, thus allowing the geometry to pop.  It also displays the refection from the pink sky  running along the outside sheeting of the greenhouse.  I like the tight crop of this photo, I took many pictures but this one and the previous post are the only ones that were framed properly in my opinion…

Some HDR at Trent

Posted on September 26, 2008

 HDR

Shot at the DNA building at Trent outside of the greenhouse while Heathyr was working on her lupins.  Here’s the setup:

Process: Rebel XT + 17-40mm L + Vivitar 285 HV off camera + 3 exposures

Post: Photomatix Pro Tonemapping with the border rendered in Lightroom

I like this style of ‘realistic’ HDR, less like a painting and more like how I see the shot.

I love Adobe Lightroom!!

I bracketed this photo to do some HDR but after putting the single exposure through my workflow in Aperture and comparing it to the HDR output I liked the single photo version much better. Taken at Port Hope beach this past Saturday.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II

Posted on September 23, 2008

This has got to be the most revolutionary camera ever released by Canon. Announced last Wednesday the 5D updated the popular mark I version of this camera. It is full frame, shooting at 21MP, an ISO range of up to 25,600 and all the other cool features present on the 50d and XSI (live view, sensor cleaning, etc). What sets this camera apart is clearly the fact that it shoots HD movies. Given it has limitations due to limited memory, the ability to be shooting a video and taking high quality photos on a single unit that is full frame makes the $2600 price tag well worth it in my opinion. Canon really stepped up to the plate this season. the 5D is set to be released in November.

Very cool effect straight out of Photobooth on my sisters new Macbook.

Let’s see what Colin and Heathyr have in store as far as Photobooth pictures are concerned (hint hint Colin).

It’s not our fault!

Posted on September 18, 2008

I know I know, eight days since the last update.

I’m back in school and both Colin and I have multiple jobs on top of everything else so until people actually pay us for photo’s, they’ll have to take a back seat sometimes.

We have a night photography adventure planned where we’ll play with off camera flash and such, so we havn’t given up!

I just wanted to update our readers (all three of them).

Concept Art

concept

I’ve been looking at rain photography the past week and wanted to get a shot of ME park when the rain provided a reflective surface for light. Turned about pretty well, a little soft since it was shot handheld. I’d like to try it again with a tripod and/or off camera flash. I like how the converging lines lead you into the picture. Heathyr would like this shot.

Hovering Berry

Posted on September 8, 2008

Seal

I thought this was False Salomon’s Seal but I don’t think it is although it does remind me of it with its colourful, speckled berries. I love how the berry looks like it is hovering because of the smooth background blur.
